Our editorial approach
A useful listing should help you judge whether a photographer’s work, specialisms and coverage fit your brief. This page explains how listing requests are considered and what a directory listing can tell you.
Manually managed listings
UK Photographers is an editorially controlled directory. The site owner decides which listings to publish and manages changes. Sending a listing request does not automatically create a profile or guarantee inclusion.
What we look for
When considering a new listing or an update, these are the information and standards we ask photographers to support:
- A working website with a clear business identity and contact route.
- A portfolio relevant to the photography specialisms described.
- A clear base location and realistic information about the areas served.
- An accurate, concise description that avoids unsupported awards, rankings or promises.
- Permission for any photographs or text supplied for use in the directory.
Recent examples of relevant work and clear service information help us assess suitability. If a detail is unclear, we may ask the photographer for more information before deciding whether to publish it.
What a listing does—and does not—mean
A listing is a starting point for your own enquiry. It does not establish a photographer’s availability, insurance, qualifications, safeguarding checks or suitability for every type of commission. We do not display a verification badge or a review date unless there is a specific, recorded check to support it.
Before booking, review the photographer’s recent work and confirm the terms that matter to your shoot. For work involving children, vulnerable people, specialist venues or regulated workplaces, discuss the relevant requirements directly with the photographer and venue.
Descriptions, images and updates
Specialisms should reflect the work a photographer offers. Category images illustrate a photography type; they are not a portfolio for every listing in that category. Information can change, so confirm current services and prices with the photographer.
If a listing is inaccurate, unsuitable or no longer active, use our corrections and removal route. A report may lead to a correction, a request for supporting information or removal.
Commercial relationships
A listing request is a request for editorial consideration, not a purchase. This website does not offer an automatic paid-listing checkout or promise a placement in return for payment.
Commercial proposals can be discussed by email. Any paid promotion, sponsorship or commission arrangement would need clear terms and a visible disclosure alongside the affected content before publication. Payment must not be presented as evidence of quality, verification or a higher independent ranking.
Reviews and feedback
UK Photographers does not provide a public star-rating system or publish a stream of customer reviews. You can send feedback about a listing privately. Questions about a booked service should first go to the photographer; directory feedback can help us assess whether the listing information needs attention.
